Great news for our Village - Acton Bridge has won the Cheshire Community Action 2014 Community Pride Award for our size category. We've been entering what was formerly known as the "Best Kept Village" competition for many years, but this is the first time we've achieved an outright win. Congratulations to Parish Councillor Hazel Bayley for coordinating our submissions, and thanks to Gordon for fixing up the new plaque on the flower bed by the Station.
Thanks also to all those who helped throughout the year to keep our village tidy, by picking up litter, clearing weeds, and especially J. S-W for tending the flower beds at the Parish Rooms. |

Acton Bridge won Cheshire's Best Kept Village Improvement Award for 2008, and we were presented with a Plaque, which had to be returned at the end of the following year's competition. The Parish Council has commissioned a new plaque as a permanent replacement, and this was installed by Hazel and Gordon Bayley in February 2010.
Back in 2007, Acton Bridge village adopted a corner of the road by the Station to build a flower bed. Volunteers put together the railway sleepers, several tons of topsoil, and lots of new plants to create an attractive feature and a focal point for the village. We also cleared and planted an area by the car park. Elevenses were kindly provided by Mike and Sue from the Hazel Pear, who also laid on hot soup and bread when we'd finished work! The following pictures were taken by Rosey M.
We are still looking for more volunteers to maintain the gardens on the station platform. If you are interested in helping us, please come along on any first Saturday in the month to meet us and join in the fun. No experience needed, just enthusiasm.
