Edition of 5. January 2018 - Map leaflets

Petal Walk Waymark The Launch of the Saltscape Petal Walks, looping between Weaverham and Acton Bridge, took place on Saturday 16. September 2017.

The inaugural walks began at Acton Bridge Parish Rooms, led by John Wilson of the Weaverham Trust, and Steve Pardoe of Acton Bridge Parish Council. We finished at Bottom Pitch Meadow, off Owley Wood Road in Weaverham, and the route went via St Mary's Church, where people who preferred to begin in Weaverham were able to join in. Paul Nolan from the Mersey Forest Trust introduced the Bottom Pitch event, where excellent packed lunches, with home-made cakes and scones, and tea and coffee were available in a big marquee. Glen Gidley, Chairman of Weaverham Trust, thanked the major participants, and reminded us of the length of the project, which had started in Weaverham as the "Greener Way" about ten years ago. There was an interesting display by the Weaverham Trust showing some of its valuable campaigns over the years.

After lunch, eight walkers from Acton Bridge completed the circuit, via Owley Wood, Weaverham, Sandy Lane, Footpath 24, and on to the Parish Rooms.

For further details, please visit Weaverham Trust's website.
